Terms related to machines

Effort(E): The force applied on a machine to do some mechenical work.

Load(L): The weight moved or the resistance overcome by a machine in doing some mechenical work.

Fulcrum(F): A fixed point or an axil around which a machine turn i doing mechenical work.

Effort arm: The perpendicular distance between the effort point and the fulcrum of a machine 

Load arm: The perpendicular distance between the load point and the fulcrum of a machine.

Input energy: The energy supplied  to the machine for doing mechenical work.

Output energy: It is useful work done or the energy produced by a machine.

Principal of machine: For an ideal machine , the output energy (out work) is always equal to input work or input energy.

Efficiency of machine: The ratio between the outut energy of machine to the input energy is called efficiency of machine.
