Functions of a Simple Machine

In most of the machines, the load is greater than the effort, However, in some machines, the load is equal to the effort or less than the effort but in such cases, the effort acts in a desired direction or at a convenient point which makes the job easy.

Machine has the following two functions:

1. It changes the magnitude of the force required, i.e. the effort is less than the load.

2. It changes the direction of effort in a convenient direction and at a convenient point.
